Development Roadmap
From RaceTab Community Wiki
These are some of the planned features we have for the future.
Records
This is a frequently requested feature... the ability to add records that will print above the event and denote anyone who reaches those marks. It can also be used to distinguish auto-qualifying marks for championship meets or other things.
Mobile Web Initiative
I have huge plans in this area to your handheld mobile phones, iPod Touch, iPad, PDA, whatever internet-connected device you have into a meet tool! The plan is to implement field event recording devices, on-the-fly seeding, clerking, and all sorts of other applications.
Of course this same technology will be able to be used by fans and announcers also to get live or near-live data from the race... from the stands or from across the country!
STAY TUNED HERE THIS WILL CHANGE THE SPORT AS WE KNOW IT!
Integrating with More and More Timing Systems
We will seek to integrate with as many is practical... hand-held timers to FAT systems to chips.
Split Recording
We will integrate with different timing vendors to capture splits, record and publish them, and hopefully even be able to push them out live to fans or a scoreboard.
Scoreboard Integration
I am hoping to be able to work with someone to get something to export to a scoreboard. Kinda baffled by it right now, honestly.
Better Multi-Event Support
We know our dec/hep/pent support is pretty weak right now.
Auto-Network Detection
It's sometimes hard to set up a network and share computers when you want to use multiple computers with RaceTab at the same time. So the plan is for RaceTab instances on the same network to talk to each other to know they are out there and say "here connect to me!!"
Live Blogging
We will integrate with social networking tools to make it easy to send out live blog updates including text, results, or event photos and videos live from the meet.
Capturing Photos/Videos
We want to be able to do this seamlessly and not interfere with the meet results processing. But hopefully we will be able to grab these on the fly and tag them with the event or even athlete based on time. Update We do have this integration with FinishLynx if you save out the finish photo to the same folder... you can also drag and drop photos in. But we hope to take this further.
