Yes, RaceTab is 100% free (as in beer)... not freemium... not bait and switch... not upgrades and modules... just free.

When MileSplit first released RaceTab, version 1 and then version 2, the software was offered in two versions RaceTab Lite and RaceTab Pro. They versions were identical, except that the Lite version only let you run events up to a certain number of athletes and then required upgrading to Pro. This version was only $99--still the cheapest on the market. We charged at first partially to make some money... but partially because people told us if we didn't charge anything then people wouldn't think it was any good!

We decided to eliminate any hurdle of entry in using the software in 2009 when we started offering the full version of the program at no cost.

Why do we do this?

Initially the goal was to reach out to coaches who did not use any computer system at all or just typed their results into Excel or Word. We wanted to get their results computerized, nice looking, and frankly in a form that we could utilize to get results into our database more easily. After meeting that goal of coming out with a basic, easy-to-use, and cheap meet manager we started to get more and more feature requests. Before we knew it the software was getting to be really fully featured and rivaled the paid programs in the industry.

Our new goal is to create a product that has no barriers for entry. We want it to be straight-forward to use, free, and have all of the very powerful features.... in other words, the whole package! We want RaceTab to appeal to both the novice coach and the experienced professional timer (and everyone in between).

We do it because we believe in doing good things for the sport. And that if we foster this very basic function of the sport, try to make meet director's lives easier and let them put on better meets, that it will help the sport grow and prosper. And in the end that is good for us all.
