Manually Entering Results

The easiest way to run a "quick meet" (not seeded) is to import rosters for the competitors. You may do this in many ways. The simplest are using www.milesplit.us, Athletic.net, or a delimited file (excel csv). The process for this can be found elsewhere in the User Guide.

Once you have the rosters you can just start the meet and enter the results as they come in. The auto-complete feature will speed this process along. The process that I use to run HS/MS meets is:

  1. Import rosters and check that scoring has been set appropriately.
  2. Have athletes sign in at their field event site. Collect results from FE judge when the event is complete.
  3. Inform visiting coaches that the first heat will be the fast heat. This will save you having to seed the meet. In a dual meet format you will have the four fastest competitors from each team in the first heat. Our conference only allows scoring from the first 2 heats. Score the event after 2 heats are entered. You may continue to post times, just remember not to re-score the event after 2 heats are recorded.
  4. We use video timing (EagleEye DV) + Race Tab.
  5. Have the finishers report to the finish recorder table to give their name, school, lane. Record this on heat sheets and send them to the press box when the race is concluded.

This process moves very quickly once you become familiar with Race Tab. We usually have full results (all competitors/all performances) ready for coaches within 10 minutes of the conclusion of the meet.

HINT: Hand time the 1600m and 3200m. This allows you to catch up with results in the lane races. Finding the finishers in combined B/G 3200m races on video timers is time consuming and cumbersome. You may record the race and keep finish times by hand, then you will know where to look on the video to get the FAT time for each finisher.
